Jerry Seinfeld.

The observer of the folly of man and our persistence on that path.

I have always loved Jerry Seinfeld and I always will. The timber in his vocal inflections as he gets annoyed is a perfection of craft into itself. From his standup to show about nothing and then lately his obsession loitering with other comedians talking about comedy is literally one of my life fantasies. I love hanging out with comedians. I’d rather meet for lunch and talk comedy then book a tee time at a golf course with random people escaping their wives. Like all greats he had his heroes like Cosby, Brooks and then the guys he came up Murphy, Rock, Romano, in the business with and now those he mentors through his presence, attention and candid feedback. He is the best artist of humanity specializing in observing our own folly and how that leads to our demise or furthering of any of life setbacks. His collaboration with Larry David and vice versa Larry David’s collaboration with him is the comedic likeness of Lennon McCartney or Jagger Richards. They did a lot separately but what they did together had its own fantastic charm. Its a dream of mine to sit down one day and talk about comedy with Jerry. We could go over what our favourite bits from each Cosby album was. Id love to ask him about what he though of Richard Pryor. In all my searches I haven’t seen him comment on his work. Id love to tell him the story about how I tried to buy joke books as a kid at the school book fair but they were sold out. So then I went to the library and signed out and read every joke book they had and read them all critiquing whether each joke was good or not. As a kid I knew early on there was no greater rush in life then telling a joke and then watching it land on an unsuspecting listener.

When I get a chance I am going to add some of my favourite clips here. But we have all seen them so many times. So I think i’ll only put the bits up I know by heart.
