I can go on for days about Bruce and The E Street band. I’ll spare you the bulk of my adoration for his work and live performances. I would like to say this. I think Bruce has one of the most rare qualities of any performer he loves his fans and performing as much as his fans love him. I was lucky enough to see him in Calgary at a show that was originally postponed for his stomach ulcer he had I think. I was lucky to make it to the rescheduled show. What I never realized being an isolated fan listening to him on the reams of vinyl Ive collected in my basement over the years with an Ortofone cartridge and circa 1975 Acoustic Research speakers is that Bruce like McCartney has a multigenerational fan base. I always knew in my brain that he had fans much older than me but seeing the teenagers there at the show obsessed invigorated my sense of faith in the future. There is hope.
This recording of Thunder Road is probably one of the best live performances of this song with a perfect harmony part sang by Melissa Ethridge.
