I can’t say enough about David Lean. I am completely mesmerized by his intellect, obsession, and convictions. One to the true masters of the frame. He has arguably framed some of cinemas most epic shots and for those who enjoy nostalgia did it on real film no green screen and something called real extras.
The boy inside me who still marvels at my heroes has Lean up there with John Williams, Alec Guinness, Peter O’Toole and Omar Shariff.
Steven Spielberg might be the luckiest film student alive. He got to watch Lawrence of Arabia with David Lean and get his directors commentary live as they watched Lawrence Of Arabia together.
