The most sentimental country artist of all time. With decades of albums, concerts, and cameos he has a career like no other. People like myself love Willie Nelson so much for the character he is that we often forget the base qualities of his talent that make him so special. I think most overlooked is the tone and timbre of his voice. He sounds like a delightful horn when he sings. Then there is his finger picking – melodic solo work on his classical guitar which has a much character to it as his majestic timing between notes. He is there rarest of guitar players in that he is feeling the timing between notes in a sentimental way and not entirely metronomic.
I’m not accusing Willie of showing of his guitar skills infront of Shania but he did rise to the occasion. Trigger was triggered. I could do a whole page on Willies duets but I am trying to restrain myself
