Bob Dylan. The magnificent vocal transformations over six decades of performances and recordings. It’s an unfair burden on fans to try to resolve the fact that there is only one Bob Dylan.

Many pints of Guinness guzzled trying to reconcile these tracks between periods, on timelines and by vocal sound. Billions of people have heard the songs of Bob Dylan. I went to one of his shows in Edmonton Alberta, Canada. It was one of the first shows I attended where cellphones were banned. The usher prewarned us that if our phones came out Dylan would leave the stage. I wanted to destroy my cellphone to keep the show going. All the hassles between pints. After this show I was absolutely elated. As we were leaving the new fandango arena there were both young and old attendees who were upset that Dylan did not sound the way they had hoped. The best of whom were completely enraged. I proceeded to pick a fight with them. As a pacifist I usually avoid such altercations but I could not let this stand. Then it donned on me that they were Dylan loyalists from a single period of his galaxy of sound exploration as a solo artist. I should have known better having studied the electric guitar revolt Dylan endured many years ago. I had no idea it was still in fashion. I have a hard time keeping up with such trends in pop culture. So I’ve decided to spend some time today labelling the periods that I have been able to distinguish during his career and label them as planets. For the purposes of simplicity I have decided to use planets you have likely heard of.
